Silence

“Be still, and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10

I don’t know about you, but I love to hear the voice of God speaking to my heart. But sometimes when I need to hear Him the most, I seem to “hear silence”.

There have been times where I have prayed in great desperation, hoping to hear just something from God and again, silence. But I have learned something. God’s silence is His peace speaking to my heart. Just because we don’t hear His voice in the moment, does not mean that He doesn’t love us or that He is rejecting us. It just means that He is teaching us to trust.

Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

And it’s through this peace that understanding, revelation and assurance comes. It’s knowing that He has everything under control in my life and He is working all things together for my good!

Once my heart is quiet before Him, I am able to receive His peace. And the silence that I hear is no longer just silence, but peace that passes all understanding.

and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
